A Matter of TIme

Time is a funny thing.  It seems like it's moving way too fast, like when you are having a great time or on vacation.  Or way too slow, anticipation, waiting for .... whatever that is.

Time is often a reoccuring theme in my work. Passing of time, collecting moments, waiting, aging.
This handmade paper collage with encaustic was created one warm day as I was farther along the healing process from surgery... a matter of time.

Wonderful painting! Yes, time. I think that Mother Nature has it SO backwards. In childhood we discovered that the school year would drag on and on, while the summer vacation would zip by!
Now it feels like all of life zips right by. Mother Nature, please send us a giant PAUSE button! Maybe that's what our art is.

Thanks Denise, you are so right about Mother Nature- or at least our perception of it. I love your analogy of our art being a giant PAUSE button. Especially, when we are in the zone, there is no time. Now if we could only "hold that thought" in the studio and out.
